Motherhood and the heart of God

Today’s Passages: Isaiah 66:10-13; 65:17-19; Mark 3:31-35

 

A mother’s goodness is a _______________ of the heart of God.

 

We are going to visit a passage in scripture that demonstrates for us the motherly heart of God, and this does two things:

 

1. It shows that mother’s have been bestowed by God the ___________ of reflecting the heart of God in every act they do.

 

2. It expands our understanding of how God wants to be __________.

 

There is there a time and a season when God wants to meet your needs like a ____________.

 

“Rejoice with Jerusalem and be glad for her, all you who love her; rejoice greatly with her, all you who mourn over her. For you will nurse and be satisfied at her comforting breasts; you will drink deeply and delight in her overflowing bosom.” For thus says the Lord: “I will extend peace to her like a river, and the glory of the nations like a flooding stream; you will nurse and be carried upon her hip and bounced upon her knees. As a mother comforts her child, so will I comfort you; and you will be comforted in Jerusalem.”                                                                                               Isaiah 66:10-13

Of all the descriptions of what heaven is going to be like, the one that God chooses to use here is that of the perfect ___________, who meets all of the child’s needs.

But how is heaven this mother to us?

“As a mother comforts her child, so will I comfort you. ”Isaiah 66:13

Because, ________ is like a mother to us in heaven.

 

“bounced upon her knees” Isaiah 66:12= God ____________ with us

Adding Isaiah 66:13 to the C.S. Lewis quote you get…

Are any of us better fathers or mothers than God?

If you then, who are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father who is in heaven give good things to those who ask him!   Matthew 7:11

To the Moms….What dignity for you!

God values so highly what you do, that he paints an image of heaven as the perfected mother. So, what you are doing on a day in and day out basis is nothing less than ________________ and _____________ part of the very heart of God to your children.
