Life in the Kingdom: Ask, Seek, Knock

Today’s Passages: Matthew 7:7-11

 

Jesus is inviting you to mix two elements together that create a spiritual ________________ of God’s kingdom in your life.

 

The first element is: actively _______ God and ____ him for good things

 

Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you. For everyone who asks receives, and the one who seeks finds, and to the one who knocks it will be opened.   7:7-8

 

A follower of Jesus has real relationship with God, and like any relationship, the greater the _______________, the greater the __________.

 

We are not going to just wake up some day and ______________ be close to God.

 

With your time and ____________, what are you seeking?

What you are seeking is probably what you are ____________.

 

The second element is: Trust that God is ____________ and wants to give you good things.

 

…which one of you, if his son asks him for bread, will give him a stone? 10 Or if he asks for a fish, will give him a serpent? 11 If you then, who are sinful, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father who is in heaven give good things to those who ask him.                                                                         7:9-11

Jesus is revealing the heart of the father and wants to destroy _______ that we all carry about God. The message is so simple and pure: God is full of ______________ towards you, like a perfect father.

 

Earthly parents will do amazing things for their kids. But where did it come from? It is a gift from God. It is just a small ____________ of the parental heart of love that God has for us.

 

We have to get out of our heads and hearts the idea that God _________ us rocks or scorpions. If your understanding of God includes that He will give you rocks and scorpions you are outside of the concept of God that ___________ _____________.

 

Jesus wants you to be able to wake up in the morning (in the midst of whatever challenges you are facing) ____________ that God’s heart is full of goodness towards you and ______________ that he wants to give good things into your life so that you experience more of his kingdom

 

Ask, seek, knock. That’s a _______________. When we don’t see kingdom breakthrough we don’t give ____ or get deterred or believe God doesn’t care or isn’t good. Ask, seek and knock ____________ keep asking, keep seeking and keep knocking.

 

When these two elements come together there is like a freight train of spiritual _______________ that will happen in our lives.
