For the last couple months as we’ve been leading up to the launch (this Sunday, April 17th 9:30am, Paloma Valley High School), there has been a scene from scripture that has been incredibly powerful to me and I think it speaks a potent word to Elevation as well.
It’s a moment where God is calling Moses and the Israelite people to the next leg of the journey with him. In one of the wisest moments recorded in humanity Moses says to the Lord… “If your Presence does not go with us, do not send us up from here” (Exodus 33:15). What ridiculously profound wisdom. Moses had experienced that life on our own strength is quite simply no place to be, but life in the power of His presence is the only place to be.
As I was all stressed last week about uber-important things like what color fabric to put on the partitions in the Sunday School classrooms, this passage again refreshingly reminded me that those anxious desires for trying to make everything perfect can melt away in the restful truth that Elevation’s one true hope lies not in human creativity or strength but in the life-transforming power of His presence.
So as we excitedly countdown to the Launch of Elevation, we thank you Jesus that “in your presence is the fullness of joy” (Psalm 16:11). So, Come Lord Jesus. Lift us up so that our lives may lift you up!
