Easter: Jesus is worthy of our everything
April 20th, 2014 by Kasey Crawford
Today’s Passages: Revelation 5:11–14; Romans 12:1; Mark 1:14-15, 2:5-6, 10:45; John 6:15, 8:48-49; Mark 8:34-35
Easter it is an opportunity to notice in a fresh way how _____________ Jesus truly was and how he deserves a radical ______________.
Therefore, I urge you, brothers and sisters, in view of God’s mercy, to offer your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God—this is your true and proper worship. Romans 12:1
True worship is when every aspect of _______ is offered as a _______________ to God.
How Awesome is Jesus!!:
Jesus came into Galilee, proclaiming the gospel of God, 15and saying, “The time is fulfilled, and the kingdom of God is at hand; repent and believe in the gospel.” Mark 1:14–15
#1. Jesus claims that __________ is invading earth!
Imagine if you met someone on the street who basically said, ” I’ve got good news from God…there is a new way of life that the world hasn’t seen yet. Tastes of heaven invading earth and its right in front of you, you’ve just got to follow me to reach out and grab it.”
How would you feel about them?
#2. Jesus claims to have the ____________ ____________ to bring people back into a right relationship with God.
Jesus tells a crippled man, “Your sins are forgiven.” and the religious leaders rightly ask “Who can forgive sins but God alone?” Mark 2:5-6
#3 Jesus claims that he will _________ his life as a ____________ for others.
For even the Son of Man came not to be served but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many.” Mark 10:45
To ransom is to buy something back that’s been lost or stolen, and in this case it’s ________!
#4 Jesus claims to be the ______________ existent _______.
Truly, truly, I say to you, before Abraham was, I am.” John 8:48-49
This hearkens back to when God told Moses his name was “I AM.”
If these claims are true (which Easter proves they are!!), then Jesus is truly Lord and worthy of ____________ ____________.
And that’s the response that Jesus himself calls for. And calling the crowd to him with his disciples, he said to them, “If anyone would come after me, let him deny himself and take up his cross and follow me. 35 For whoever would save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for my sake and the gospel’s will save it. Mark 8:34–35
Jesus calls us to a response: ______ that we may truly __________
Taking it deeper in reflection and conversation with God….
Is how I invest my life (my time, my energy, my resources, my emotions, my goals, etc.) run through the filter of “Jesus is the Lord of my life and worthy of my everything, so everything I do is a response to His worth”?
Since Jesus is worthy of our everything, how can you live more fully in response to His worth?
*answers: radical, response, life, sacrifice, heaven, spiritual authority, give, ransom, you, eternally, God, your everything, die, live
