In the Lord’s Prayer, Jesus is teaching a simple, yet very deep framework for understanding how to approach ______  of life with God in prayer.

Jesus is inviting us to live __________ to the reality of the spiritual world we live in and call upon the power of God in prayer for supernatural ______________ over evil. A foundational piece of Jesus’ worldview is that this is a spiritual universe and there is a spiritual ____________.

Evil has a source: Satan.  Good has a source: God.

The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy. I came that they may have life and have it abundantly.    John 10:10

Everything Jesus does is a _______________ of Kingdoms.

Now is the judgment of this world; now will the ruler of this world be cast out.                                                                                        John 12:31

Though this fallen and broken world is under the power of the enemy (Luke 4:5-7), Jesus is here to take it back and ____________ the works of Satan. “The reason the Son of God appeared was to destroy the works of the devil.”   1 John 3:8

Everywhere Jesus goes, he _______________and ________ ___the work of the enemy and releases heavens goodness. (Luke 11:20–22)

What we see in this aspect of prayer is that the work of advancing God’s kingdom by overcoming evil through prayer has been __________ ___ to his followers.

Until that day comes when Christ returns the spiritual battle doesn’t _______, so be alert and ___________ to fight.

For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against…the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms.   Ephesians 6:10–12

Be alert and of sober mind. Your enemy the devil prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour.  1 Peter 5:8

How does the enemy work?  What are some of his schemes?

He destroys ______.

The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy. John 10:10

He speaks _________ (about your ______________ primarily)

[The devil]…”is a liar and the father of lies.”   John 8:44

“If you are the Son of God…” Matt 4:6

He looks for _____________ times

When the devil had finished every test, he departed from him until an opportune time. Luke 4:13

He exploits _______________

Do not let the sun go down while you are still angry, 27 and do not give the devil a foothold.     Ephesians 4:26–27

He ________________ circumstances…

And the devil said to Him, “I will give You all this domain and its glory; I give it to whomever I wish. 7  Luke 4:5–7

What are signs that the enemy is attacking? Test the ________

The Kingdom of God is full of: Love, joy, peace, hope, patience, kindness, goodness, self-control, reconciliation, forgiveness, humility

The kingdom of darkness wreaks of: Hate, anger, pride, despair, anxiety, fear, heaviness, frustration, addiction, lust, bitterness, discord, unforgiveness, broken relationships.

So what do we do in light of the spiritual battle?

Knowing these tactics of the enemy, God calls us to partner with Him by prayer.  Jesus invites us to walk in his authority praying to the Father that He would deliver us and the world around us from the evil one. As we learn to be sober about this reality and dependent on God through prayer, we can walk in increasing victory over the enemy.
