We are taught to want and expect things now. Instant gratification is a supreme value in our culture. But when we bring these expectations to life with God we set ourselves up for frustration and disappointment. Real Faith: Perseverance deepens the roots of faith

Now faith is the assurance of things hoped for, the conviction of things not seen. Hebrews 11:1
In the new covenant promises through Jesus: Faith is a trust in God’s goodness and an expectation in His will to bring His Kingdom, even in the midst of circumstances appearing otherwise.
By faith, we get to partner with the living God to see God do the _____________ in and through our lives.
But faith does not mean ___________ results.
Quick and easy results are often _________ what God has in mind.
Consider it pure joy, my brothers and sisters, whenever you face trials of many kinds, 3 because you know that the testing of your faith produces perseverance. 4 Let perseverance finish its work so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking anything.
James 1:2–4
Trials come and put that faith to the test.
Do you really believe God?
Do you really trust God’s promise?
Holding on to our faith in the midst of trial produces a perseverance, which is essentially a trust in God that has the power to ____________ over time.
Perseverance in the world is to hang in there and hold on and wait and just get _____________.

A deep trust in the goodness of God.
“But blessed is the one who trusts in the Lord, whose confidence is in him. 8 They will be like a tree planted by the water that sends out its roots by the stream. It does not fear when heat comes; its leaves are always green. It has no worries in a year of drought and never fails to bear fruit.” Jeremiah 17:5–8
If faith are the roots of our tree of life, it is in the process of persevering that the roots _____________ deep into the soil of God’s goodness.

5 Now may the God who gives perseverance and encouragement grant you to be of the same mind with one another according to Christ Jesus, Romans 15:5
