Mar.1st 2015-Family on Mission-The WAY of Jesus-UP,IN,OUT

What is the most important thing in life? Jesus answered: Love God and Love People (Matt 22:36-39). So what does that look like in everyday life? In this message we will look at the way of Jesus as he intentionally invests in: his relationship with the Father (UP), his relationship with a close family (IN) and relationships with the hurting, broken and lost (OUT).  The great news is that this relationship-rich life wasn’t just for Jesus but for us too!

Our Mission: We are _____________ to be a family of followers of Jesus doing life together to see the Kingdom of Heaven transform earth.

What makes a church powerful?

“Teacher, which is the greatest commandment in the Law?” Jesus replied: ‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.’ This is the first and greatest commandment. And the second is like it: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’ ” Matthew 22:36-39

All of life boils down to: “Love God, Love others.”

Life’s most important priority is _________________!

Do we live that way? Do we invest our time and energy that way?

Jesus models for us how to live with relationships as the most important thing in life.

Up – Pursue relational ______________ with God.

In – Pursue ________-____________ relationships with a church family.

Out – Pursue God’s mission by _____________ others.

So…what makes church powerful??

When ____________ is committed to the way of Jesus: UP, IN, OUT

UP – Pursue relational intimacy with God.

Jesus lived UP!

Jesus often withdrew to lonely places and prayed.   Luke 5:16

Jesus modeled a fellowship with God that the world had never seen, yet it is what _______________ is made for.

Jesus said UP is for _______ too!!

If anyone loves me, he will keep my word, and my Father will love him, and we will come to him and make our home with him.                                                                                                                                   John 14:23

You are made to be a ___________ of worship that hosts God, with worship services going on 24/7.

All of life is meant to be turned ____________ to worship God.

In – Pursue life-giving relationships with a church family.

Jesus lived IN!   (see Luke 8:1–3)

Jesus said IN is for you too!

34 A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another: just as I have loved you, you also are to love one another. 35 By this all people will know that you are my disciples, if you have love for _______ ______________.”   John 13:34–35

Jesus calls us to live in a family with healthy __________-dependence.

Out – Pursue God’s mission by serving others.

Jesus lived OUT.

…I am among you as one who serves. Luke 22:27

Jesus said OUT is for you too!

Very truly I tell you, whoever believes in me will do the works I have been doing, and they will do even greater things than these, because I am going to the Father.   John 14:12

__________ believer is called to do the “works” of Jesus as part of how you go out and make disciples.

Consequences of an unbalanced life:

  • Not enough UP = spiritual burnout and __________. No fresh fruit!
  • Not enough IN = isolation and loneliness, no ________ friendships
  • Not enough Out = not much Kingdom transformation in ________
