Worship: Going Ahead of the Battle

Joshua 6

Verse 2-5

2 And the LORD said to Joshua: “See! I have given Jericho into your hand, its king, and the mighty men of valor. 3 You shall march around the city, all you men of war; you shall go all around the city once. This you shall do six days. 4 And seven priests shall bear seven trumpets of rams’ horns before the ark. But the seventh day you shall march around the city seven times, and the priests shall blow the trumpets. 5 It shall come to pass, when they make a long blast with the ram’s horn, and when you hear the sound of the trumpet, that all the people shall shout with a great shout; then the wall of the city will fall down flat. And the people shall go up every man straight before him.”

2 Chronicles 20

Jehoshaphat does 3 things:

1. ______________ 2 Chronicles 20:3

2. ______________ 2 Chronicles 20:4-13

Vs 12 “For we have no power against this great multitude that is coming against us: nor do we know what to do, but our eyes are upon You.”

3. _______________ 2 Chronicles 20:21-22

Vs 21-22 “And when he had consulted with the people, he appointed those who should sing to the Lord, and who should praise the beauty of holiness, as they went out before the army and were saying “Praise the Lord, for His mercy endures forever.” Now when they began to sing and to praise, the Lord set ambushes against the people of Ammon, Moab and Mount Seir, who had come against Judah, and they were defeated.”

Notice that in both battles, not a finger was lifted with a sword. They were won completely by faith and obedience. The success of their _______________ depended on the success of their _______________!!!

5 Practical Things:

1. _____________ ask God for His strategy for victory when you face a personal struggle. (prayer)

2. _____________ your weaknesses and look to God for direction

3. _____________ the Word of God as the living Word and ultimate standard of revealed truth. (faith)

4. _____________ to receiving prophetic words given by Godly men and women. Seek the Lord for confirmation, test these words with Scripture, and submit them to the Lord in prayer.

5. _____________ Let’s learn from the faith of the singers going into battle in front of the army, and remember how God brought a mighty victory!

As we worship Him, He transforms us, and our church, and we become worshipping, witnessing warriors who fight the battles of the Lord for His glory!
