Today’s Passages: Matt 28:18-20, Acts 1:8, Luke 10:5-7

18 And Jesus came and said to them, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. 19 Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, 20 teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age.”                                                              Matthew 28:18–20

Some key things to see about the Co-missioning of Jesus’s followers:

  • It’s _________ mission that we get to be a part of. (vs.18-20)
  • The mission will be done in His ___________ (vs. 18)
  • He will always be ___________, because its His mission, not ours (vs.20)
  • He is inviting us to be a ____________ in what He is doing (vs.19)
  • The word “Go” that we read as an imperative, a command, is not actually in the imperative tense, it is in the ____________ tense and is better read “As you are going…”      The word poreuomai means: to go, to proceed, to _________, to walk.
  • The first command of the commission is actually __________ ______________!

A better reading of the Matthew 28:19 is:

“As you are going about life, MAKE DISCIPLES!”

When and where do you make disciples? Matthew 28:19

To make disciples is not supposed to be something for which we have to remove ourselves from _____________ life in order to make happen.

How do you make disciples?

In His _________, share your __________!!

But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth.”   Acts 1:8

In His power…you will receive power when the Holy Spirit… (v.8)

Share your story…witnesses, or testifier, one who shares their story

What is your story? Because of God, how is your life _____________ than it used to be? That is your story/fruit/testimony that God asks you to simply share with others in word and action.

Of whom do you make disciples? Find a Person of _______

5 Whatever house you enter, first say, ‘Peace be to this house!’ 6 And if a son of peace is there, your peace will rest upon him. But if not, it will return to you. 7 And remain in the same house, eating and drinking what they provide, for the laborer deserves his wages. Do not go from house to house.                                               Luke 10:5–7

The Kingdom of God cannot be coerced or forced upon anyone. When seeking to make disciples we are to _________ for a Person of Peace. This person is willing to:

____________ you

____________ from you

____________ you

When you find a Person of Peace, ___________ there!

God doesn’t call us to save the whole world, he calls us to advance His Kingdom by making disciples, _______ person at a time!
