God is in the business of NEW!

Passages: Revelation 21:5, Lamentations 3:22-25, Isaiah 43:18-19, Colossians 3:9-10

 New year’s resolutions are popular because people know they need some _______ __________ infused into them.

And that is not a ______ thing…because…

• Ø God is in the business of _______.

Jesus himself characterized his work as:

“Behold, I am making ________ things _________!” Revelation 21:5 

 _____________ is outside the scope of what Jesus wants to and will make new or renew to the humbly dependent follower of him.

 

“Because of the Lord’s great love we are not consumed. his mercies never come to an end; They are NEW every morning; great is your faithfulness.”   Lamentations 3:22-23

1. God is in the business of new _______________.

We’re never allowed to wake up and say, God is ________ me today.

Do you know that each morning you wake up, God is in a _______ _________ towards you?

We all live our lives under a concept and image of who God is and how God _________ about us.  We need to soak in our _________ that because of Jesus, God is in a good mood towards his _________children.

 

Forget the former things; do not dwell on the past.  I am about to do a NEW thing; now it springs forth, do you not perceive it? I will make a way in the wilderness and rivers in the desert.”                                                                                                                                                 Isaiah 43:18-19

2.  God is in the business of new ______________.

The ___________ of your past doesn’t have to be the _______ of your future.

God is a builder of roads where there is _____ _____________.

God is promising to build a road out of the wilderness if we let go of the ____________ of having things how they’ve always been.

 

“ … put off of the old self with its practices and put on the NEW self, which is being renewed in knowledge in the image of its Creator.”                                                     Colossians 3:9-10

3. God is in the business of new _______________

God wants to bring into present reality more of the____________ ____________ that is ours in Christ!

The phrase “is being renewed” is in a present ____________ tense, meaning that it is an _____________ development.

So, in life with God there is ________ hope for something new, when we stay humbly _______________.

With God you are never _________!

 

Going deeper as a disciple of Jesus….

What burdens of 2013 can you give to the One who is in the business of new beginnings and new paths? Spend some time praying and naming each thing that you want to entrust into God’s care for 2014. God makes roads where there are no roads!!

Is there any area of life where you feel stuck right now? Give the situation to Him and declare over your life the promise of Colossians 3:9-10 that God will continue to transform your character to be like that of Jesus.
