We Believe
Elevation church is a Christian, non-denominational family of followers of Jesus Christ. As such, we respect every established theological stream within the span of Christian orthodoxy reflected in the Evangelical tradition. We want to major on the majors and minor on the minors for the sake of unity in the bride of Christ. (Unity is so important. Unity in the Spirit precedes Power in the Spirit. So If we want to see the Spirit of God pour out in Power, we need to be One in spirit and purpose).
These basic truths are expressed well in two succinct confessions. For centuries, the Apostles’ Creed has united God’s people around a clear, biblical declaration of Christian belief. Additionally, the Statement of Faith of the National Association of Evangelicals (NAE) has emerged as the central code of evangelical doctrine. These two confessions comprise the basis of our statement of beliefs.
The Apostlesʼ Creed
I believe in God, the Father almighty, creator of heaven and earth.
I believe in Jesus Christ, his only Son, our Lord, who was conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of the Virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died, and was buried.
On the third day he rose again; he ascended into heaven, he is seated at the right hand of the Father, and he will come to judge the living and the dead.
I believe in the Holy Spirit, the holy catholic Church, the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body, and the life everlasting. Amen.
National Association of Evangelicals Statement of Faith
We believe the Bible to be the inspired, the only infallible, authoritative Word of God.
We believe that there is one God, eternally existent in three persons: Father, Son and Holy Spirit.
We believe in the deity of our Lord Jesus Christ, in His virgin birth, in His sinless life, in His miracles, in His vicarious and atoning death through His shed blood, in His bodily resurrection, in His ascension to the right hand of the Father, and in His personal return in power and glory.
We believe that for the salvation of lost and sinful people, regeneration by the Holy Spirit is absolutely essential.
We believe in the present ministry of the Holy Spirit by whose indwelling the Christian is enabled to live a godly life.
We believe in the resurrection of both the saved and the lost; they that are saved unto the resurrection of life and they that are lost unto the resurrection of separation from God’s presence.
We believe in the spiritual unity of believers in our Lord Jesus Christ.
The Holy Spirit
At Elevation, we love the Holy Spirit, the fruit that he grows in us and the gifts he gives to us. As the apostle Paul tells us to do, we “earnestly desire the spiritual gifts”, yet we seek to do that with humility, grace and order. But man, if you are missing out on the presence of the Holy Spirit, it’s like not breathing! We expect miracles! We expect the Holy Spirit to be doing things "above and beyond what we asked or thought" (Ephesians 3:20). We expect the Holy Spirit to be making the impossible possible!
Women in Ministry
What is the God-designed role of women in the Church? Can women publicly pray? preach? prophesy? teach? lead? These are crucial questions, all of which have been intensely debated for many years, with opinions still varying widely.
The leadership team of Elevation church believes that the New Testament teaches that there are no permanent prohibitions or limitations that should keep women from participation in all the ministries of the church. Or to state it positively, the N.T. teaches that women can participate with men in the full range of Church ministries and leadership. We are thrilled at Elevation to honor women as equal ministry partners with men and that God’s plan is to be a powerful army together!!
