Community Life Together:

Grace & __________

August 21, 2011  by Kasey Crawford

We believe there is incredible power in investing in relationships with one another.  But after a while of hanging out and doing life together, we are ____________ going to hurt, offend, bother, and annoy each other.

So, How do we deal with it when community life gets hard?  GRACE!!

(See Colossians 3: 1-15)

But, as we show grace we are not called to be ___________. We are not called to let unhealthy, damaging or even toxic attitudes and actions just persist, especially within the context of church, a community of people that has committed to doing life together in order to be a _____________ of Jesus to the world

Within the community of grace there is an ______________ time and __________ way to confront someone with ___________!

Listen to how important this is to Jesus….

Therefore, if you are offering your gift at the altar and there remember that your brother or sister has something against you, 24 leave your gift there in front of the altar. First go and be reconciled to them; then come and offer your gift.    Matthew 5:23–24

Giving the gift at the altar was a central part of regular, weekly _________ at the temple service.

Jesus claims that to God it is more important for you to be at _________ with your brothers and sisters than it is for you to do __________ acts of ____________ at a worship service.

When do you know its time to go work something out with a brother or sister?    If it is getting in the way of your _____________.

This is hard work! Why should we do it?

Why #1 God’s redemption of our lives is very much about the transformation of __________________-with God and others.

For Jesus, the litmus test for how we are ___________ with God is how we are ____________ with one another.   (See also  1 John 4:20)

Why #2 God desires us to live in unity and peace with one another, cuz the world is looking to the church to ______________ what Jesus is all about.

Why #3-The way the bible describes community life together, speaking the truth to each other is one of the primary ways we _________.     Speaking the truth in love, we will grow to become in every respect the mature body of him who is the head, that is, Christ.  Ephesians 4:15

This verse also addresses the How? …speaking the truth in ________.

Grace is still the overarching ethos, cuz if we are coming from a God-honoring heart, then speaking the truth is not cuz we want to judge and _____________ them its cuz we want to help them grow and ________ them up.

What if they won’t listen?   See Matthew 18:15-17

If someone isn’t at the place to receive truth and graciously accept it, God wants to gives you the right to set some boundaries that __________ you.   If someone has legitimately wronged you, and you have shared it and others have affirmed it and they are not willing to hear it, then they lose the ________ to have _________ to vulnerable places in your heart.  God gives you permission to set an _____________ and ______________ boundary.
