This is more than a message, its a recording of a corporate experience of God’s healing presence. As we unpack the meaning of the Shalom (wholeness, completeness) that Jesus taught and modeled, we see a resounding Yes from Jesus that God cares about our physical bodies. At the end of the service we created a space for corporate prayer for physical healing. God moved powerfully in our midst and brought a number of immediate healings. A number of those testimonies are included in the message. As you listen, remember that God would love to do the same in you!

Shalom week 2: Wholeness for our bodies

Today’s Passages: Mark 5:24-34; 1:40-42; Luke 10:9
Shalom is a Hebrew word and concept that is most often translated as peace, though it means much more, carrying the notion of “well-being”, “____________” and “____________.”
Jesus shows us that there is nothing in our life that is outside of what God wants to touch, redeem, heal and make ___________ and _____________ through his goodness.
Hopefully this series is going to broaden our __________________ of how God really wants to work in our lives and therefore give us greater ________________ for those things that matter to God in our lives.
Does the wholeness and well-being that God wants for people include our bodies?
Mark 5:24-34 And a woman was there who had been subject to bleeding for twelve years. (v.25)
The cultural norms said that when a woman was experiencing menstruation she was ___________, socially and ____________ unclean.
When she heard about Jesus… (v 26)
What do you think she had heard about Jesus?
Something like this…
A man with leprosy came to him and begged him on his knees, “If you are willing, you can make me clean.” 41 Moved with compassion, He reached out his hand and touched the man. “I am willing,” he said. “Be clean!” 42 Immediately the leprosy left him and he was cleansed. Mark 1:40–42
Everywhere Jesus goes he demonstrate not only the power, but the _________ to heal people from their _____________.
So, “she thought, ‘If I just touch his clothes, I will be healed.’” (v. 28)
The word “healed” is Sozo in the greek which carries the sense: to heal, __________, make-___________, and deliver.
All throughout the New Testament, Healing and Salvation go hand in hand, rooted in the same word: Sozo!
Daughter, your faith has healed you. Go in peace and be freed from your suffering.” Mark 5: 34
Put a couple of other ways:
“Daughter, your faith has sozo’d you. Go in Shalom.”
“Daughter your faith has saved, healed, and made you well. Go in the wholeness, completeness and well-being of heaven and be freed from your suffering.”
There is a clash of two kingdoms here. Jesus is no friend of _________ ___________. Suffering is part of the status quo of the broken world and clearly part of what Jesus came to save us from (sozo) by bringing heaven’s wholeness and completeness to our bodies (Shalom).
Heal the sick who are there and tell them, ‘The kingdom of God has come near to you.’ Luke 10:9
When The Kingdom of God is ___________the sick are ___________.
You would have to completely remove or ignore the plain teaching of this passage to arrive at anything other than the fact that, physical healing is __________ of God’s mission in advancing his kingdom on this earth!
Putting it into action….
Is there something in your body that needs physical healing?
Will you take the courageous step to ask someone to pray for you?
Or, will you pray for someone else when you find out they are suffering physically?
