Who is Jesus - Matthew - Messiah and Master

The first chapter of Matthew makes the audacious claims that Jesus is the Christ, (Χριστός) the Messiah (1:1,16,17,18), the Anointed one sent from God to “save his people from their sins (1:21). He was supernaturally conceived by the Holy Spirit, he is the fulfillment of prophecy (1:22), he is in fact, “God with us.” (1:23)

Therefore, Jesus is a catalyst, a trigger that demands a life-altering response of passionate devotion or total rejection.
